Seattle WA USA — Your business relies on equipment that costs thousands of dollars, yet many of the adverse environmental conditions that can cause this equipment to fail remain outside the view of an organization’s network management system.
Many Omnitronix products can monitor remote environmental conditions and notify key staff before equipment is damaged or destroyed. Their environmental monitoring capabilities include: On-board Temperature/Humidity Sensors, Remote EventSensor™ Sensors, Mechanical Temperature/Humidity Sensors, Mechanical Water/Smoke Sensors, Intrusion Detection and Alarm Notification.
Omnitronix offers many different products which can monitor environmental conditions and notify someone before equipment is damaged. In order to determine which of their products best suits specific needs, please review the topics below and then use the Omnitronic Product Selection Wizard at the bottom of the appropriate products page to identify the best-suited product.
Environmental Sensors
On-board Temperature/Humidity Sensors
Several Omnitronix products offer the following on-board (internal) environmental sensor options:
* Internal Temperature Sensor
* Internal Humidity Sensor
* Contact Closure Inputs (which then can interface with external mechanical sensors)
The internal temperature and humidity sensors are designed to measure the environmental conditions directly in the vicinity of the Omnitronix product, typically in an equipment rack.
By using contact closures inputs within Omnitronix products one can also connect remote mechanical sensors which can monitor more remote environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, water, smoke, etc) . They offer a number of these mechanical sensor accessories as shown below.
Remote EventSensor™ Sensors
Looking for a system that’s inexpensive to scale as monitoring needs expand? Their modular EventSensor system eliminates redundant hardware so one only buys what is needed now. Additional sensors can be added on later. Several Omnitronix products come equipped with an EventSensor Port that allows one to connect external EventSensor Modules. The inexpensive modules allows one to sense temperature, humidity, contact closures and analog inputs, and also provides the ability to switch relay outputs. Staff can connect EventSensors hundreds of feet away from the base unit via standard CAT5 cable, which both powers and communicates to the EventSensors devices.
Mechanical Temperature/Humidity Sensors
Using the contact closure input capabilities of the SL81, one can connect mechanical sensors which generate a contact closure when a threshold is exceeded. A home thermostat is an example of this type of mechanical environmental sensor. They offer a mechanical thermostat sensor and a mechanical humidistat sensor which have been tested and approved for use with their products.
Mechanical Water/Smoke Sensors
Using the contact closure input capabilities of the SL81, one can also connect water sensors and smoke detectors. They offer a mechanical water sensor and a mechanical smoke detector which have been tested and approved for use with their products.
Intrusion Detection
Using the contact closure input capabilities of the SL81, one can also connect magnetic door sensors which can tell when secure doors, windows, and cabinets are opened or closed. They offer a mechanical door sensor which has been tested and approved for use with their products.
Alarm Notification
Omnitronix products can transmit alarms via various methods including:
* Modem
* Email
* Pager
* SNMP Trap
Alarm messages can go over the network and sometimes over a modem. SNMP Traps are the most common form of alarm notification when integrating with a network management system. To receive SNMP Traps, customers may utilize their existing SNMP software or Omnitronix AlarmManager software, which is now available free. Some products do not support modem alarms or email alarms.
