Climatic, Environmental and Dynamics Testing Capabilities Added To Portfolio of Services

Fremont CA, USA – National Technical Systems Inc. has announced the opening of a new custom-built Climatic, Environmental and Dynamics Product Testing Laboratory in close proximity to the company’s existing test laboratories in Silicon Valley, California. The new location is over 30,000 square feet, and will house a wide range of state-of-the-art testing equipment.

In addition to the EMC, product safety and wireless testing services already being performed in the existing NTS Silicon Valley locations, the new location will offer a wide range of complementary services such as shock and vibration testing, thermal stress and extreme environment simulation. These new services open the door to customers in many different industries, ranging from Aerospace and Defense to Telecom and Medical.

“This expansion effort represents a major expansion of our test offerings in Northern California, by bringing in all of the complementary testing capabilities needed to fully round out our existing portfolio of services”, said Eddie Pavlu, General Manager of NTS Silicon Valley.”Our customers now have true one-stop shopping for all of their product testing and certification requirements right here in the Bay Area.”

These new capabilities make NTS Silicon Valley a viable local solution for many Bay Area manufacturers who have had to take their testing requirements to laboratories outside of the region to meet their full range of needs. Additionally, the new capabilities will enable NTS Silicon Valley to offer a more complete NEBS testing solution for the many telecom equipment manufacturers in the area.

“We are very excited to announce the opening of this new facility”, commented Dwight Moore, Chief Operating Officer at NTS. “As we grow our Silicon Valley operations we expect to continue adding equipment and facilities to our existing capabilities in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our customer base in this important region.”

Extreme Temperature Testing

Extreme temperature testing determines at which point a unit stops functioning properly. The exposure can be a step stress profile (prolonged exposure to a suspect temperature) a fast ramp up followed by a soak period, and/or a slow increase to temperature(s) where a failure is expected.

We are capable of transition rates of 100 °C per minute, 70 data channels or more and temperatures of -273 °C to +815 °C. Chamber sizes range from one cubic foot to large walk in chambers such as 15′ x 25′ x 25′ and cooling is through nitrogen injection, or, should you need to operate the equipment during testing, through mechanical means…

NTS will test to Telcordia Specs, MIL-STD- 883, Method 1010, MIL-STD-810E, method 507.3, RTCA DO-160D, section 6, IEC 68-2-2, IEC 68-2-3, IEC 68-2-30 and IEC 68-2-38 and many other specifications.

Extreme Temperature Storage Testing applies to any item that must perform well after a period of exposure to hostile environment; items we have tested are microchips, optical components, ballistic armor, paint and coatings, enclosure and packaging materials (epoxy and others), space exploration hardware, memory storage materials, automotive parts and defense systems.
