Interlaboratory Crosscheck Test Programs [DSC, DSC (OIT), & TGA]
A new Proficiency Testing Program (PTP) that focuses on the Thermal Analyses of Plastics (TAP) will be offered by the ASTM International Proficiency Testing Program Center in 2010.
The new program provides a statistical quality assurance tool enabling laboratories to improve and maintain a high level of performance in conducting ASTM differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), oxidative-induction time by DSC and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) utilizing a range of plastic resins.
Test cycles will be held in February and July and participants will be able to compare their test results with other laboratories worldwide. Companies must be registered by January 10, 2010 to be included in the February test.
The PTP is conducted twice annually.
Program participants ?? will receive two plastic resin samples plus test instructions for each test cycle. Their?? laboratory performs the tests that they normally conduct within their own facility using the specified ASTM methods in the program scope.
Single determinations by each laboratory are required, as the program does not allow the reporting of averages of replicate determinations.
Upon completion of tests, each laboratory electronically submits their PTP data to ASTM for use in generating statistical summary reports.

Test cycles are scheduled for February and July beginning in 2010.
Deadline for registration to receive February samples is January 10, 2010.
