New ice detection sensor

SOMMER Messtechnik to showcase its new IDS-10 sensor at Meteorological Technology World Expo in Madrid

SOMMER Messtechnik
SOMMER Messtechnik’s new ice detection sensor, the IDS-10.

Koblach, Austria — Ice can jeopardise the safety and a smooth operation of a range of technical equipment housed externally.

It can also effect the (moving) parts itself once it covers buildings, machinery or other constructions exposed to weather including wind power stations, aviation and road traffic control towers, antennas, high-voltage power lines or other civil constructions.

The  IDS-10 sensor was developed to tackle this problem.

The new IDS-10 ice sensor automatically detects icing on its surface on a real-time and reliable basis, and is able to detect the different physical characteristics air, water and ice have at different frequencies.

The  IDS-10 ice sensor now provides enhanced information about current environmental conditions and empirical data about ice formation, via continuous and automated measuring.

It helps to support the decision-making process, reducing operational risk and costly maintenance work. Read more New ice detection sensor
