Disney Boardwalk Hotel Conference Center, Orlando FL, USA – The 2010 IR/Info Conference was in full swing yesterday when I attended. The photo above was one I took when the second paper in the afternoon session was introduced.

Its author is Mr. Sonny James, Managing Director of Thermal Diagnostics Ltd., Trinidad. He is shown in the photo above being introduced by Jim Seffrin, the host of the Conference and President of Infraspection Institute, Burlington NJ, USA.

Mr. James’ talk focused on his experiences using a 13 foot long Water-cooled “Gold Cup” Pyrometer as a verifying and calibrating tool to enhance the accuracy of the use of a filtered, short-wavelength thermal imager in a very large methanol pyrolysis furnace.

The goal was to more precisely determine the surface temperature of the reaction tubes within the furnace during normal operation.

His paper was well presented and received by the audience and positive comments were added by several attendees including one of the field thermographers from Jersey Infrared who is familiar with such furnace operations and thermal image scanning of their interior tube surfaces.

We’ll hear more about both this expanding and popular meeting and Mr Sonny James and his company.

The full program for this year’s meeting is online at Infraspection.com and the full copies of the papers from all the presentations will also be online soon for free download by anyone interested. That, in itself, is one of the strong community features of the Infraspection group.

The Infraspection guys and gals topped last year’s great meeting this time…again. Congratulations, from the MeasurementMedia Division of Temperatures.com, Inc.

IR/INFO is an annual conference and training Symposium focused on Infrared Thermal Imaging and exchanging information among thermographers from many difference sub-specialties. It is organized and managed by the Infraspection Institute, the original thermographer training organization. The 2010 meeting was held at Disney World for the first time this year and it will be held there again next year. Look for the dates and make your reservations early.
