IRCameras Launches SWIR Scientific Cameras

Multispectral Capabilities | Detects Wavelengths to 2.5 ??m

IRC_900SANTA BARBARA CA, USA — /PRNewswire-iReach/ — IRCameras (IRC) has announced the availability of an extended short wave infrared (SWIR) scientific camera to its IRC800 and IRC900 series cameras.

Unlike traditional SWIR products that only detect wavelengths up to 1.7 ??m, these cameras are capable of detecting wavelengths out to 2.5 ??m.

This extended imaging capability gives users a better understanding about a wide range of materials and phenomena, and the ability to see objects and make measurements in this important and active spectral region.

IRC developed these new LN2 and Stirling cooled SWIR cameras by exploiting their custom camera capability. This enabled them to optimize the sensor, dewar, cold stop and cold filter for the extended SWIR spectral range.

These cameras provide customers with more information, leading to better analysis and decision making. The new IRC800 and IRC900 series SWIR cameras are available in both 640×512 and 1280×1024 image formats.

The IRC800 and IRC900 series cameras are perfectly designed for spectroscopy, hyper spectral/multispectral applications, chemical-biological detection and geological mapping.

“IRC’s willingness to build cameras that meet the market need facilitated the development of the SWIR series of cameras,” said Steve McHugh, president of IRCameras.

“IRC identified a gap in the market and developed this breakthrough technology to meet that need. Our product arms customers with the technology they need to identify more, do more and make better decisions quickly.”

The SWIR cameras are currently available and were on display at Photonics West from February 4-6, 2014 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.

IRCameras provides the most technologically advanced infrared imaging systems available for scientific, industrial and military applications. In addition to our extensive line-up of standard commercial cameras and IDCAs, we offer custom design and build services to meet unique optical, packaging and space-constrained requirements.

IRCameras is a subsidiary of Santa Barbara Infrared, a long-time leader in the design and manufacture of electro-optical (E-O) test instrumentation. SBIR, in turn, is part of HEICO Corporation, a technology-based aerospace company that???s been engaged in niche market segments within the aerospace, aviation and electronics industries for more than 40 years.
